The Immaturity of Absolutes

There’s a moment in life when we start saying anything is possible. When we start to say it in moments of anger, frustration or sadness, we know we are reaching a certain level of maturity.

Young people (I know I’m calling myself old) tend to believe that their current state of emotions is permanent. Any small event is the end of the world or calls for a long time grudge. Words like never and forever are thrown around as if they didn’t represent a daily battle for millions of hours. The problem is, hardly anything lasts forever. Pain subsides, beauty fades, emotions change, etc.

Maturity comes in the form of an open ended view of the world.
